black hogg restaurant

Black Hogg is a toast to Los Angeles.  When Chris and I were menu shopping, he asked if I wanted to go to Black Hogg and I asked what kind of restaurant is it?  Well, uh, a lot of kinds.  There’s banh mi, brussel sprouts, wagyu, gastro bites, poutine, tacos, steak tartare, halal, and a burger.  It seemed to make no sense, but at the same time the descriptions sounded cleverly delicious.

Black Hogg is on the once seedy (still seedy?) strip of Sunset Blvd next to a funky tattoo parlor.  Chef Eric Park prints on the menu that the collection of plates is New Los Angeles Food.  And it all makes sense!  This is the kitchen where the best ingredients from K-Town to Olvera Street to Venice Beach meet up – how else could you find a five leches brioche.  The thoughtfulness of the dishes comes from Michelin Star pedigree, which he nicely packages for date night portions and prices.  Needless to say, we’re excited to go back.
