In Danish, the word hygge loosely translates to coziness. It describes that time of year when it’s cold and the days are short, so we stay inside with glowing fires and cuddle. During our recent LA hot streak, I’m getting nostalgic for snow and wintertime. And beautiful wool throws like these. Made from New Zealand wool – cute patterns – two sided – warm and cozy. aelfie x studio proba – rugs!

I love a rug that doesn’t conform to normal run-of-the-mill rug standards.  Like these!

These particular rugs are so non-conformist that they even have a punchy, three-dimensional element. They are made by Aelfie x Studio Proba, which is a project from Brooklyn-based designers Aelfie Oudghiri and Alex Proba. Even just looking through their individual websites, I tend to think, “Yeah, I’d like to be friends with these gals.” These are results of the collaboration:

dreaming of beni ourain

When we got married, not only did I get a husband, but he came with an Italian shag area rug that he is inexplicably attached to.  And as a special compromise, it’s in the living room.
